Chris and I spoke and hammered out the details. See below for your reference. I plan to have a water station, so if we can have two tables set up for the event, that will be great.

Also - we talked about the two winning classes (one in 3/4/5 and one in K/1/2) having an ice cream party the last week of school, possibly on 6/21. Can you let me know if this is feasible?


Our Recess Runners Spring event will be held on Friday, 6/17 (assuming we have good weather). Volunteer arrival is 1:45 for the event to begin at 2:00. This will be a full school event with two separate races. The tentative schedule is as follows:

3/4/5 Grade race
Awards ceremony
K/1/2 Grade race
Awards ceremony

The race will be a relay race where each class will compete. Participation is not mandatory, and each student will only need to complete a 1/4 mile. I think this should work out, since we never know how hot or humid it will be this time of year.

The awards ceremony will include announcing the winners of the class competition, announcing students who completed the most miles (students in all grades will be recognized), and also announcing which students ran the most miles this Spring (top in 3/4/5 and top in K/1/2). I think this will be a nice way for a variety of students of all ages to be recognized.
